This mod is one of my personal favorites, due to the fact that you can battle throughout all of Theed.
Naboo: City of Theed: This map is mostly ground combat focused, however if you spawn at certain command posts (CP numbers Republic: 2 and 4, Separatist: 3) you can access a starfighter and fly above the beautiful, large, and open world space of Naboo, in its atmosphere. A large set of maps, greatly decent quality. The large set of maps are: Naboo, Coruscant, Kamino, Hoth, Bespin, Tatooine, Mustafar, Kashyyyk, Yavin 4, Dagobah, Endor, Rhen Var, Umbara, Geonosis, and Alderaan. You read that correct, Space to Ground for the original 2005 Battlefront II! The only issue with this/these map packs is that the scale seems off, LOD/view distance is not great (though you can alter that in your video options menu), and the planets (in their space/outer atmosphere form) look horrendous up close. However, this map pack does not require the 1.3 patch, a very good thing for those who do not have it. Due to it not being in the original game map's cache and probably something I do not understand with scripting and what not. 
The only pit fall of this mod is that it does not have the capability to support the Improved Sides Mod's (well), improved sides. Oh no, no, no! The Capital Ship's interiors have been expanded allowing those who want to be a true Space Marine or even try to recreate the Capital Supremacy Game Mode for the Galactic Civil War era in the original Battlefront II. But this is not where this mod's space battle fun ends.
Ansem Darkseeker's Map Pack: This map pack mod adds many maps (as implied) but the ones that are going to stick out to us as this is a starfighter list is: Space Coruscant for the Galactic Civil War (tremendously great map, so indefinably fun) and Space Kamino for the Galactic Civil War (yet again so fun). Battle Over Coruscant: This mod adds the Battle Over Coruscant with playable heroes from the get-go and a whole lot of laser fire. 
Another must have mod for starfighting and in general. Also an additional thing for this mod: on all Galactic Civil War Era maps, the B-Wing is present in the Rebel Hangar. The space maps included are: Space Bespin, Space Endor (with the Death Star II in sight), Space Geonosis, and Space Rhen Var.
Conversion Pack: This mod adds many maps (space and ground), a new era (KoTOR), new game modes, and new heroes (overwritten by Improved Sides Mods, however) and also has the first-person cockpit experience. \This mod also has a Locals add on, for those who may want improved: Wampas, Tusken Raiders, Jawas, Gungans, and more.** Needless to say if you want a great starfighter aesthetic and gameplay experience this mod is a must have. #2005 battlefront 2 mods skin#
Another great addition of this mod is the skin changer for troopers and heroes (Maul of Mandalore, General Kenobi, Hooded Anakin, and Macquarrie Vader to name a few although I can not get it to work, it seems everyone else has). Certainly a big thing for those who want to replicate the Squadrons vibe in Battlefront II.
Improved Sides Mod: This mod not only improves the infantry of Battlefront II by giving them better character models (some models that I would say rival Dice's own models, and run beautifully on my outdated system), but it also improves the starfighter models and not only that but another thing for starfighters is the ability to go into cockpit view. #2005 battlefront 2 mods mods#
Links to the mods will be at the end of the article in order of appearance. Most mods require the Unofficial 1.3 Patch. In this excitement I thought what better way than to go back to the classic Battlefront II and find some great starfighter experiences through the modding community. In the great anticipation for Star Wars: Squadrons some may wish to find a good starfighter experience, that is not related to Battlefront II (2017)'s unexplored and abandoned starfighter mode(s).
